It’s “hump day” for the week and we can see the weekend just ahead. Today I am helping a friend out and later on its church. This has been a good week so far and I have kept busy. No Earth-shattering news to report but sometimes that is good. I hope everyone has a great day.

Wow, what a busy day. I went to interview and register with a employment agency downtown this morning. Afterwards I headed to the grocery store to get some needed staples. This afternoon I have done some laundry, made the bed and tidied up the kitchen. Oh yeah I had lunch too. Staying active can make the day go by faster. 

I hope everyone had a good, productive day. This evening will be spent relaxing and watching TV. 

A Busy Weekend

It’s been a busy weekend. From a news conference to announce the local universities women’s basketball coach, to preview sale for the church rummage sale on Friday to today’s rummage sale for the public. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and Church. Yes there has been a lot to do. 

Tonight however we have slowed down to watch “Doctor Who”, “Orphan Black” and “The Nerdist” on BBC America. Rest and recreation is a good thing you know.

Youth Rummage Sale, A Success! - Today the youth of White Oak United Methodist Church here in Chattanooga held their annual rummage sale. Our group of kids worked hard this week along with some adult volunteers to make this event happen. There were a steady stream of customers throughout our time this morning. Money raised goes towards their activities for the year. Every effort is made to have a self-sufficient youth ministry. We also have an opportunity to attract people to the church. The youth have much to be proud of, they worked hard and did great. God did His part with the weather too. It was a fun day had by all.

Legal Dreams

Last night I had a dream I was a lawyer. In the dream I was representing a client but I couldn’t get access to the legal briefs in order to know how to present the case. The court was very informal with a large jury. There has never been a time when I wanted to go to law school. People who spent a lot of money and gave 4 years time to do that I respect. My wife was helping me in the dream too. Interesting. 

Dreams Of A Place I Don’t Wanna Go

It seems that I have frequent dreams of us moving to Birmingham, AL. Now, I don’t have issue with Birmingham but its not my idea of a place to desire to move to. My dream last night was us trying to get utilities set up and deciding where we would go to church. Those are important activities to tend to when relocating. 

Perhaps its less about moving to Birmingham and the possible change ahead when I get a job. I have been out of work for over a year and I do have some anxiety over it. My wife is working hard to keep the money coming in. We aren’t looking to leave Chattanooga, we are happy here, we have a house, family and other situations we are a part of. In dream Birmingham we were scared to go too far away because we fear of getting lost. Another part of the dream is where would everything fit in our home in dream Birmingham.

What does this all really mean? I would like to know. Getting back to work and reducing our fear would be good. 

My Super Sunday

It’s been a very blessed day. Laura and I went to Waffle House for breakfast, then to church for great worship and fellowship at White Oak UMC. I helped in the sacrament of communion today. Then hung out with the youth to help them in their preparation for the upcoming flea market. Tonight Laura and I had taco salad for dinner in observance of Cinco de Mayo. It’s raining again too. Thank you God for the day. Now its time for rest. 

Good Sunday Morning, May 5th, 2013

Hello friends, it is still very wet outside here in the Tennessee Valley. It has rained since early yesterday morning. The rain can stop anytime now, seriously. We are getting out in it to go to Church as usual. It is Cinco de Mayo and to all celebrating have a good time. Be safe in all you do today. God bless each of you. Love and peace.

Twenty-one years ago I graduated from Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. HIwassee gave me a second chance at college when I was looking for a purpose in my life. Sometimes its about finding a place where you can thrive and succeed. Hiwassee is a United Methodist affiliated college so for me it was a great fit.  Today, graduation exercises will be held on campus and a new group of graduates will find their way in the world or transition to other colleges to complete their education. May God bless each of them. Best wishes class of 2013.
