Human Persons Instead of Human Beings
This morning in church Pastor Amy brought a message of how people who work are producers and then consumers. People are worth more than what they produce and consume. Its sad how we are so disconnected because of our workload and our connections to technology. So many people are committed to their work they cannot break away for things such as worship and community.
We go to work and come home often times without having meaningful dialogue with those we work with and our neighbors. So often people drive to work park in a big structure and after their work is done drive home into a big garage walk into their houses not to be seen until the next day. Their homes are also full of possessions that have seemed to control them instead of the other way around.
Its rare for people to be out on the front porch of their homes to have fun with neighbors. Some of us remember when a freezer of homemade ice cream would bring people down the street together. We used to play ball, ride bikes and more with people in our neighborhoods.
Perhaps we need to return to those days when people are valued for more than what they do and for who they are as individuals. God has more for us than what we have these days. He wants his people love one another.
